Drawing, Cigarettes and European Court of Human Rights.

A few days ago Pasha Lebedev, lawer Olga Gnezdilova and I brought the 561_418337case to European Court of Human Rights. The reason for this decision is well known: we have long had sued the mayor’s office of Voronezh, the city police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs after the picket January 20, 2014 against the law about «gay propaganda.» We were beaten. But in Russia, we were not able to achieve justice and punish those responsible.

The second news: after Natasha Tsymbalova I quit smoking. I smoked for over 13 years. I hope I will succeed.

The third news: I finished a new drawing. Every day there are more and more. I like it! My dream is to go to art school in the United States.

I love you, NYC!

qsvulO-E2MUI love New York City!

November,18 I was lucky enough to visit this wonderful city once more. I spent the whole day. Human Rights Watch asked me to give a video interview, and I gladly accepted. No matter what, I think it’s important to talk about LGBT issues in Russia. This is especially important in an environment where many LGBT activists left Russia. Recently, these people became many more. I think my story is a good example of what is happening. This escalation of hatred and aggression in society. This lack of fundamental human rights. This constant violence. This fear. This despair. But this situation will not last forever. Sooner or later, everything will change. Everything will be better. And if each of us does what he can, then we will win! Equality of rights is not a gift. Equality of rights is the result of a daily and ongoing struggle.

During my trips to New York I have several times experienced unpleasant moments. I always carry a backpack, to which I have tied a rainbow ribbon. Several times people passing by have shouted behind my back «Faggot! Ahahaha »or« Fags rainbow! ». And I realized that Russia doesn’t hold a monopoly on homophobia. It is everywhere. Therefore, wherever we are, it is important to keep proud and bold and make efforts to ensure that the world around us is changing at least a little bit. Because the world around us is beautiful! I walked through the night to New York and forgot to take pictures. I was walking with my head held high and looked at the skyscrapers … I had never seen a night in New York! Giant buildings, thousands and thousands of people, the dynamics … In this city, the feeling of life is very encouraging and gives a boost.

P.s. Thank you Nina Long for paying my mobile phone bill.

First Official LGBT Wedding Held in St. Petersburg, Russia Today

Very interesting news from Russia.

yj8fKRbZB0LqDrLzxl6PBA-articleToday in St. Petersburg, Russia, the city’s first marriage between two women was officially registered. The couple, Irina Shumilov and Alain Fursova, married in one of the marriage registration halls in the city on the Neva.

Official registration of the marriage is possible because one of the brides, Irina, is a transgender woman, and is in the process of sex reassignment. She always presents in accordance with her female gender, including at work (Irina works as a programmer). She is currently undergoing hormone therapy and will soon have gender confirmation surgery as well. Her fiancee, Alena, is a cisgender woman.

«This is a big step for all of us,» says Marina Theodori, who witnessed the wedding ceremony. «Most of us dream of having a formal marriage, but in Russia it was not possible yet. For us it is the realization of our dreams. Hopefully soon we will have more opportunities.»

Employees at the marriage registration hall displayed a tolerant attitude toward the two brides during the ceremony. Among their guests were friends and acquaintances, both LGBT and non-LGBT. The wedding reception will be held at one of the clubs in St. Petersburg.

HRC National Dinner

131

Yesterday we were very lucky to attend an HRC National Dinner.

So many emotions, so many impressions. It is the first time we attended an event of such a magnitude. It is very motivating and encouraging for our future activism and gives us strength to fight for equality. To fight for equality here in the US, in Russia and in the world.

John Becker, Michael Knaapen, Charles Sloan Chan Massey and Joseph Chan, thank you for the wonderful opportunity to attend this event!

Now we’re a real family!

Today is the day of our happiness. Today, Igor and I were married!

Almost 4.5 years ago, we met and immediately fell in love. Ever since, we’ve dreamed of not only living together, but becoming a real family. Today, we can finally say: We are a family!

A year ago we could not even imagine that our lives would be like this: that we’d leave for America, and that we would be legally married. But today, this is our reality.

Thank you, friends!

Thank you, John and Michael, for helping to change our lives! Thank you very much for becoming a part of our lives, and thank you for organizing this day.

Thanks to all the Americans who fought every day for our and your ability to be happy!

We love you, people!!! We are happy!
